Theme for January: Happy Birthday, BSA!
Character Connection: Honesty Happy Birthday, BSA! The year 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America. We will be celebrating the centennial at our annual Blue & Gold Banquet. Mark your calendar for this extraordinary event, scheduled for Saturday, February 27. The Blue & Gold Committee will be meeting every Monday in January & February during regular den meeting times. Pack 12 Pinewood Derby Pack 12's annual Pinewood Derby competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 20 at the Farragut Church. This is always a favorite event for our Cub Scout families. Don't miss out! Schedule of Events: Friday, February 19 7 - 8 pm Unofficial weigh-in (optional) Saturday, February 20 8:30 - 9:30 am Car registration and official weigh-in 9:30 - 10 Category voting (Best Paint Job, Craftsmanship, & Cub Scout Spirit 10:15 - 12 Races 12 - 12:15 Awards presentations 12:15 - 1 Clean up There will be an area set up with simple tools for minor repairs. There will also be a designated graphite area. Please only apply graphite lube to your cars in the designated graphite area so the mess is contained. Certificates and ribbons will be presented for the 3 voting categories and for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each rank (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos I and Webelos II). The boys with the 3 best times overall, regardless of rank, will receive trophies. Youth Protection Training BSA has implemented a number of policies to ensure the safety and security of their members. All Pack 12 Leaders and Adult Volunteers are required to complete Youth Protection Training. However, we also encourage our parents to complete the onling training, which gives an overview of the BSA policies, teaches about the different forms of child abuse, how to recognize and report them, and most importantly how to establish barriers to prevent them from occurring.
